Nantgaredig 28 Penybanc 0

Banc travelled to third place Nant on Saturday looking to build on the superb win over Llandeilo a week earlier. Despite having a host of regulars missing, the squad still looked pretty strong. Nant started the better, with their backs looking very organised and dangerous. Good tackling from Mathew Lloyd and veteran Christian Hughes kept the hosts at bay however. Makeshift wing Steffan Charles, who answered a last minute call to play out of position, acquitted himself well and saw plenty of ball in the early stages. It was Nant however that scored first with a try from their centre. This was converted and they added a penalty soon after. Banc however, as seen in previous weeks came back at the hosts and dominated the next quarter. Skipper Tim Williams found himself in acres of space on the wing and after be hauled down just short, Banc recycled well but could not get over the line. Centre Tom Gale was forced off the field shortly after with flanker Mark Tench joining the fray at scrum half and Owen Williams slotting in at centre.

Banc were confident they could overcome the 10-0 deficit but had more injury worry to contend with as flanker Gethin Harris was carried off with a knee injury. Nant extended their lead shortly after with another well worked try but Banc continued to press and had a couple of chances but a combination of handling errors and good Nant defence meant the home line stayed intact. The Tigers suffered further woe with replacement prop James Harris retiring with a knee injury before Nant scored another. A couple of nice breaks from Hughes were all Banc had to show for their efforts in this period and the home side secured their bonus point with a cracking solo effort from their replacement flanker with ten minutes to go. Unfortunately, the game was brought to a halt earlier than expected after a nasty injury to Nant back rower Rhys Evans. The club would like to wish him well with his recovery. It was a bad day at the office for the Tigers with lots of unforced errors but flanker Cellan Harris played exceptionally well while long server Hughes shone in the backs. Its Lampeter home this week where we will hopefully welcome some boys back into the squad as we look to climb the league.
